Born in South Korea, Julia Pyoung studied fine art and majored in graphic design at Aun Yung college. She had a professional career in graphic design working for Wouk Creative and Sun Houng Graphic Design in Seoul, Korea, before coming to the United States in 1994.
When she came to the United States, Julia developed her talents in abstract painting, illustrations, and surrealistic ink and charcoal works. Her experiences in the multi-cultural landscape of America helped to shape the direction of her art, reflecting the shared pain, joy and mystery of all human life.
Julia has had five solo shows in San Francisco between 2004 and 2007. She recently moved to Sausalito where she hopes to expand her audience and participation in the arts community.
Julia wishes her art to be a mirror, where people can see and feel the love, pain, and hope of their own lives within her creations.
