A longtime resident of the Sausalito houseboat community Patricia Lawrence paints with watercolors her favorite medium.
Light on the water and shifting colors through the day inspire her work.
Inspiration from outdoor scenes is translated using light, shapes and color into her paintings. Her intuitive response to the scenery shows through her landscape paintings. Watercolors are the way she expresses her joy of painting.
She took numerous college art classes and completed her graduate studies at U.C. Berkeley. She studied the Ling Nang school of Chinese brush painting at the San Francisco Chinese Cultural Center for many years after visiting China. Her brush paintings were exhibited at shows at the Chinese Cultural Center.
Patricia has studied watercolors with Kay Russell, Jerry Stitt, and Connie Smith Siegel along with Catherine Anderson, Skip Lawrence and Christopher Schink.
She has exhibited at the Marin County Fair, Marin County Watercolor Society shows, City College at Fort Mason, Westamerica Bank, the Bay Model - Army Corps of Engineers, Floating Homes Tour shows, Plumas County’s Gray Eagle Lodge, and with the “Ripples” exhibit of the Marin County Art Council at the Marin Civic Center.
