A longtime houseboat resident of the Sausalito waterfront, Patricia Lawrence paints in her favorite medium, watercolors, for more than twenty-years. She took numerous art classes while working on her undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University and completed her graduate studies at UC Berkeley. Painting Richardson Bay scenes, area waterways and the California coastline are her favorite subjects. Her watercolors capture the landscapes of boats, water and views from the land toward the water. Her fascination with how light plays on the water and our emotional response to water continues to inspire her works. Her paintings try to capture the feeling of the waterfront area, but not exactly how it looks. She studied the Ling Nang school of Chinese brush painting at the San Francisco Chinese Cultural Center for many years after visiting China in 1982. She exhibited her brush paintings at several shows at the Chinese Cultural Center. Patricia has studied under Kay Russell, Jerry Stitt, and Connie Smith Siegel and shows her work locally and regionally.
